It's hard for me to believe that I am trying to write a piece for my last edition of The Counterweight. It's tempting to do an article where I try to give sage life-lessons that I've absorbed from my time in Morris, but in the end I don't think an article like that is really interesting for anyone.

A Time of Reflection

As I write this, graduation looms closer and more prominent on the horizon every day. I cannot believe my career at UMM is nearly over. I have struggled this semester with my anticipation towards the future and the bittersweet realization that I am living through the "lasts:" the last Homecoming, the last Jazz Dance, the last walks around town.

If you happened to watch some the theatrical productions at Morris these last two semesters, you may have noticed the sets, the lights, the script, the actors, or maybe even the things that clothed the actors--costumes. Two of the productions this year showcased costume designs from our seniors Selma Petterson and Alisha Saulnier.

Growing up on a farm, I've been surrounded by animals my entire life. Pigs, cattle, horses, you name it I've been around them. I've always been proud to grow up on a farm, proud of the fact that what we grow and raise helps to feed the world. When I prepared to take the ACT as a junior in high school, my school counselor told me to guess if I did not know the answer. I only had to guess one letter, and I had a one in four chance of getting it right.

If I left the bubbles blank, I would have a 100% chance of getting the question wrong, and if I filled in every bubble, I would have filled in the correct answer as well as the wrong answers, so I still would have gotten the question wrong.
